Technologies and Approaches to Support an Uplift Pattern LanguageWorkshop, Stanford University Summer, 2003 This workshop will focus on the technologies and approaches to triggering a cascade of uplift as discussed at the GivingSpace July, 2003 workshop on Uplift Pattern Languages. Topics to be considered are: Creating an Uplift Tapestry Model. For example, can we create an interactive map of Africa, showing which patterns have been used in which contexts, and with what success? Can we show "holes" in the tapestry, indicating where we could expect the most "generative" effects to take place? Can we weave these patterns into a tapestry which gives us a platform for growing our understanding of which patterns work? What are the simplest initial conditions we can create which would allow this tapestry to evolve? Community Feedback loops for Pattern Languages. How can we learn which patterns are most successful, and in which contexts? Can we create a scalable, global network of people and communities who enrich these patterns? How do we detect , create, or refine self-organizing, self-propagating patterns of uplift? Creating/Refining the Uplift Starter Kit. What is the simplest, most scalable first step in creating a self-organizing, self-propagating downloadable starter kit? and others, to be decided... |
